Sun Sets on Another Year

I believe great images lurk right outside your door. You don’t have to travel far to find beauty and interest. I spend my summer days running by this tree and I knew northern clouds would compliment it beautifully. This afternoon the clouds were building in the north, but the sky remained a brilliant blue. I knew this would be the time to visit my running partner. It just so happened to be the end of a year!

Justin wonderful processing on this image. Very creative collection of filters & tweaks applied. I am surprised how far we can push our pixels and achieve some really unique images – well done!

Gotta say I peaked in your darkroom too. Just had to laugh a bit. I’m burying my PC this Monday, my first Mac arrives Tuesday….about to get pretty exciting around here.

I use all the filters/software you do as well as the Drobo. Great minds think a like, eh? Just took me awhile to find my inner mac-soul….

However, my musical tastes are not quite as eclectic as yours – you lost me at the rasputina cover of LZ’s rock n roll…..just not my style. But that’s ok, I won’t hold it against you!

      Jeff,

I feel like my Darkroom is pretty complete, I can’t really think of anything I would like to add. Let me know how you like the new MAC. Are you going to start using aperture or are you going to be using Lightroom? I would be curious to hear your thoughts on Aperture 3.

Keep your eye out for the Monthly playlists, I am pretty sure you are going to find something you like.

Still really liking your new blog. Great work all around! Looking forward to your pics form the Caribbean.

  2. Justin….found your site via the Nik software email I received this morning…you have almost the exact same workflow as I do, and we shoot with the same camera…great blog you have here, and excellent photo above!! Take care,

    Scotty

I really like this image a lot because I’m into trees and blue well it’s my favorite color. But I have to ask you. Did you use any noise reduction on this? Being a newbie I’m beginning to find out not every image needs noise reduction for the sake of just using noise reduction. Is this correct?

  6. admin says:

    Howdy Jeffery!

Thanks, I appreciate the comments. This is one of my favorites in recent months. I didn’t use any noise reduction on it. You are correct, not all images require it. I have found that the more brackets you shoot in smaller increments the less noise you final image will have. This image was made from 8 images at 1 EV. I actually shot 9 images, but left out the most overexposed one because it didn’t offer much.

    I hope that helps!

    Justin

I would love to hear from you
