Safety First

In preparation for my guest blog post on my fellow photographer and Urban HDR shooter, Brian Matiash’s website, I headed down to the rail yards. Paying attention to the sign, I laid my ear on the tracks listening for any approaching trains. When the coast was clear, I made my into position, quickly acquired focus, bracketed 9 frames, and fled the scene. Brain would probably want me back home typing as opposed to chasing images…but I promise, the text is well underway. Visit Brian’s site today for some incredible images, and in the near future to read my post “Looking Forward”.

Holy Batman! Did you really lay your head on the track and wait for the line to clear for this image…..that’s dedicated.

Wonderfully detailed image. The rail lines draw the eye instantly and lead you to the cars. Then I love the signage – how apropo!

    Well done my friend.

So …… are you ready for the jump to CS5 and the new HDR components with anti-halo effects yet? I just checked, will probably not launch for 2 more weeks. However, I will definitely make the leap when it is available. Can’t wait!

I have seen the new HDRPro features in CS5, and they look pretty cool. What I am interested in (from an HDR Perspective) is the Content Aware heal and fill. They might really save some time when it comes to masking out/in movement in HDR images.

Is you see it ready to ship, let me know. I am on board the first day!

  2. Thanks for the kind words about my tutorials – they’re much appreciated. And like you, I’m looking forward to trying out the new HDR features in CS5 – I’m expecting good things :)
