A couple weeks back I decided to schedule up solo photo-walk. I hadn’t been out on one lately, and I was itching to get out and explore. If you remember from a previous post, photo-walks are a big component of my ‘Creative Scheduling’. These are great ways not only to create, but to relax as well. Something goes on the in the creative brain the tends to silence all other stresses that are begging for your attention. So I checked the weather, charged the batteries, put together a route, and quieted my mind.

There is a lot to keep your attention in this shot. Particularly my brain is trying to process the vague shapes beyond the aged glass. I’m enjoying how the symmetry is broken by drainpipe and graffiti. I have a very similar image in my archives of an industrial building that seems to be given over to residences of some type. It was one of my first (and not very good) attempts at HDR processing.
Thanks Julie! With this image, I did try to loose some detail in the shadows behind the glass. I boosted Photomatix’s shadow clipping slider then topped it off with a global contrast adjustment in Photoshop. It seems to work pretty well, and it kept my eye guessing.
Thanks again Julie. Always appreciated!
