iPhone Friday

Last weekend when I was out in San Diego, I had the opportunity to sit down and have dinner with the fine folks from Nik Software, the makers of Snapseed. You can read my full review of it here. To pay tribute to their hospitality, I thought I would share some photos I made around their hometown. The following photos were all made with an iPhone 4 and Snapseed. Thanks for the great tool Nik. The best $4.99 I have ever spent. Also, thanks Josh for the ride home. I was a little nervous about returning on the bus.

You can purchase Snapseed for your iOS (iPhone, iPad, and iHomeComputer) device here.

Snapseed - Nik Software, Inc.

Over dinner, I learned a couple of fun and interesting things about the company. The one thing I did learn, and I think it is apparent in the quality of their software, is that they have a very harmonious balance of engineering and creative talent. I often get asked, why buy Nik Software when you can just do it in Photoshop? After having a beer with one of their engineers (who has a PhD in differential geometry and loves listening to some Billy Idol when he is algorithming his way to glory), you realize that Nik can do things with pixels that other software just can’t. Nik’s creative team then takes the collective brain power of 65 brilliant engineers and funnels that into one rockin’ product.

Have a great weekend! I look forward to seeing you back here on Monday. I will be sharing some screen shots of what I’m working on this weekend over on Facebook and G+ so feel free to give those social outlets a like or circle.

Fitness Challenge Update

Well, things are going along pretty good. I have added a new type of workout. I wanted something that I can do quickly, confuses my muscles, and is intense. This is what I have come up with.

10 stair sprints
10 pullups
50 pushups
40 Thrusters w/ 45lbs bar
50 Dips on the side of a bench
100 crunches
1/20 of a mile of lunges
50 kettle-bells
10 burpies

I started at 16:58 for the workout and now I am down to 15:00 even. Things are improving!

  1. Great iphone stuff today, Justin. That first one especially is a killer.

  2. I have to agree! Snapseed is the best $5 ever spent on my iPhone! Wonderful images!

Fitness update: Spent most of this week fighting a cold and sinus stuff. Bleh. I like your muscle confusion workout. I’m looking for something similar. I came up with a quick routine around the house involving squats, lunges, pushups and the Total Gym. I need to get some more core exercises in it, but it’s getting the heart pumping and calories burning. That’s most important!

  3. Great shots Justin. I just traded in my Blackberry for an iPhone last week and I’m really excited about the photo possibilities. Was going over your tutorial as well…awesome stuff.

  4. Your iPhone work is such a major source of inspiration. Love these shots and I agree too, Snapseed is a great investment. Keep up the great work man!

  5. Nice shots! More important – Congrats on your workout routine!
