Ahhh…The Grande Colonial. When I close my eyes, and conjure up the vision of a historic California hotel, this is what I dream of. I just finished our latest travel guide ‘The Photographer’s Guide To La Jolla’ if you would like to read it, you can find it here.
Photographer’s Note: I shot this image using a Nikon 45mm PC-E lens. The PC stands for Perspective Control. This lens has many fantastic qualities, but the one feature that separates it from other lenses is its ability to correct converging angles when photographing architecture. Had I used a traditional lens, the facade and palm trees would have appeared to coverage on themselves towards the top. The Nikon PC-E lenses correct for this and keep those beautiful historic lines square.

Excellent shot Justin. Like the lighting that you have capture. Thanks also for the La Jolla guide. I haven’t been to San Diego since the 90′s and really have to get back there.
This is a beautiful shot Justin. I really love the softness of it.
