The sun had already risen over at Mesa Arch (photo here) and I was headed back to camp for a fresh cup of coffee. On my way, this beautiful scene unfolded before me. I’ll be honest, initially I drove past it. I don’t do well without my morning coffee. I also don’t do well knowing I passed up a potential photograph. I quickly turned around, jumped out of the car and grabbed this shot. Knowing I had another couple exposures on the card made the coffee that much more enjoyable.
Photographer’s Note: Although the sun was gone and the beautiful warm colors had faded, I knew that the haze would create a sense of expanse and depth. I tell you this, so next time you see a dull hazy scene, you too might pull over and put your coffee on hold. If you are interested, I shot the image using a Nikon D7000 coupled with a 70-300 VR. I processed the single exposure using Lightroom 4.
Drum Roll Please….
Here are the winners from yesterday’s 4th Anniversary drawing. Yep, the drawing was old school…crumpled up paper blindly drawn out of my own 10 gallon. That’s the way we run all our drawings. You should come to one of my auctions. If you didn’t win, you can still use the coupon code HOSSEDIA4 to get 40% all the prints in my gallery for the rest of this week (link to gallery) . For those that won, send me your shipping address and a link to the photo you would like and I will have it shipped to you.

Really like the way you brought out depth using a monotone effect, Justin
Congrats to the winners!
Nice work with the monochrome. Great shot.
Love the textures of this image! Oh and thanks for the giveaway!
