I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…Salt Lake City sunsets are some of the best in the world! This one was no exception. Speaking of SLC, I will be out there this weekend if any photographers want to share some inside knowledge with me. I’d love to know of a cool secret location. I’ll be there for two days so sunrise or set is fine. Thanks in advance!
Does this picture look crooked to you? I have looked at it for far too long. Lightroom straightening tool says it’s straight, but I think it looks about 1 or 2 degrees off. It’s become a total mind game, so instead of driving myself crazy, I thought I would ask you guys and gals.

Temple looks like it leans a little to the right but the lawn has a little slope to the left. Maybe an optical illusion? Still a great photo. We were in Utah in early summer and did the Zion and Bryce area. Did not get up to SLC but hope to do that on next trip out. I’ll be interested on hearing what you find during your visit.
Thanks Bruce, I’m glad you were seeing what I was seeing. I couldn’t tell if it was the temples fault or the ground. That is a beautiful part of the country…I love it. Did you check out my travel guide, it might have some insight for your next trip.

nice one Justin!! the bldg looks straight but the ground slopes so it throws it off visually, I think – but hell I’m enjoying the sunset here anyways so who cares! :)
High Speed!
Beautiful shot. Temple Square is a gorgeous location.
Thanks Kris!
It IS crooked..but it’s more a matter of perspective control than rotation. Look at the temples right side and you’ll see it’s straight with the right border. The left, however, slants inward. This is one you take to Photoshop for its transform engine, set on perspective, and move the tops of the temple to square things up. But, to be honest, I wouldn’t have noticed it was crooked if you hadn’t mentioned it. What a nice photo!
Great point Frank…actually two great points! Agreed there is some distortion from not shooting with a PCE…and yep, easily corrected in Photoshop…and second, it is a beautiful sunset so who cares! Thanks for the feedback.
This is a stunning shot Jason. Your building is straight I think its theground that’s a bit off.
Thanks Edith…I totally thought I was going crazy.
Killer shot! Love blue and purple tones throughout the image! It does look crooked but I believe it’s due to the fence/walkway that slants downward to the right. It messes with your eyes!
Beautiful shot Justin. The lawn seems to slope down to the left, the “wall” behind the lawn seems to taper off to the right, so I’m going to guess that this is what makes it look crooked… One of those optical illusion shots like the elephant with the six legs maybe, or maybe not lol
Thanks for the sanity check Gus! I’d freak out if I saw an elephant with six legs…
Awesome photo that looked great until the nit picky people spoiled it for me! Kidding, of course. It’s a beautiful shot, period!
The building appears to be leaning a bit to the right to me…
