A Quiet Night in Hana

The Hana Ranch Restaurant, is one of two places to eat in the sleepy little town of Hana, HI. Its great food combined with sitting out under the stars, listening to the waves roll in from the darkness, makes for quite an evening.

Photographer’s Note: This is a single image processed in Lightroom 4. I know I have sung the praises before, but the new math within LR4 is amazing. Here is the before image, straight out of the camera….yuk!

  1. Very nice image! – I agree, there are tremendous features in LR4.

  2. Pretty cool. I used LR4 for their 30 day trial period during my trip to Portugal. I agree its pretty solid, but I struggled with the interface a bit. I think I’m so used to Aperture and I’m really efficient in it, so its hard to make the switch. I guess I’m still hoping they’ll upgrade to version 4 at some point…

    • I could see how it would be difficult coming form Aperture. I was an Aperture user for a bit…primarily for the iLife integration. However, now I do everything in LR and export my final pieces to iPhoto which houses my portfolio….then that is where I integrate with iLife for books, email, etc….

  3. Looks like a great place to chill Justin. They have done a great job with LR4. Hope they continue the trend with the next release.

  4. Wow, a stark improvement over the original. If there was ever a good commercial for LR4, this is it. My typical workflow includes Aperture and iPhoto, but it’s always left me wanting more. So, I’ve downloaded the LR4 trial to see if its everything you say it is. I have to say, I’m really liking it and I know I’ve only scratched the surface of what it can do. Any recommendations for online LR4 courses (in addition to your videos) would be greatly appreciated. Thx!

  5. I told you it was good. Glad you like it.

  6. The initial picture was good, but the ‘before’ picture blew me away. I can’t believe that you were able to get from the ‘before’ to the ‘after’ picture with only Lightroom. I suppose a purchase of the ‘Essential Development’ ebook and upgrade to Lightroom 4 is in order. Thanks Justin!
