A Stormy Sea

Howdy everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. While I continue to work on the project I was telling you about last week, I decided to take a quick break and go through the archives. Which, to my surprise, contained this photo. I made this image years ago on the far southern coast of California. I’m not sure why I hadn’t taken notice of it earlier. Maybe it’s my current state of mind that brought it out of the archives. It could be that inside me is a creative storm that continues to push breaking waves towards a distant shoreline, slowly changing its features forever. Or, I just forgot to tag with the proper meta data and it slipped through the cracks. Either way, I’m happy I found it!

It will be a short week here as I’m trying to finish a new book on the Fuji X system, but I should have a story or two to share in a few days.

Peering Down The Pier

Scripps Pier

I hope you all enjoyed your holiday. It’s supposed to be getting cold here in Colorado, so I thought I would try to warm in up a bit around here. Scripps Pier is one of my favorite places to photograph. I love the contrast of waves, clouds and the unmoving pier leading you to them.

My New Workshop

If you missed it, I launched my new photography workshop. You can check it out here and if you use this link (click here) you can get the holiday savings. I’d love for you do take it so we can continue the creative adventure together.

Fruita Colorado

In the distance is the small town of Fruita Colorado as seen from the Colorado National Monument. If you are a mountain biker, you’ve probably have visited once or twice. It used to be small agricultural town, but in the last 5 years it has become of the top 5 places in the US for mountain biking. If you are ever headed this way, let me know and I can share some trail information with you. A couple of years back I rode my mountain bike from Fruita to Moab along the fabled Kokopeli Trail. That was an adventure I will never forget.

A View Of Denali

Flight Around Denali

This is one of those images and moments that just needs to be. It’s from a flight around Denali we were on a couple of years back. I have a bunch of photos from that flight, and I revisit them every now and again just to remember that moment. It’s always fun to share them with you. If you’d like to put this on your desktop for a day, click the image, click ‘X3′ for the high-res version then save it as your desktop. I hope it inspires you as much as it does me. I think it is amazing that things like this exist in the world. It is such a beautiful place!

Who Doesn’t Love Syrup

Alaskan Syrup

Another image in this week’s series of ‘Hey, I’m glad I shot that photo’ photos. I was familiar with Maple Syrup from the Northeast, but I had no idea that Alaska produced Birch syrup. It’s really good! These are the buckets that collect that sap that they make the syrup with. Have you ever had Birch syrup?
