Big Pretty Sky Capitol

Utah State Capitol

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I spent it hard at work on a new project. Hopefully I will have it done soon and ready to share with you. That being said, I’ll apologize for the shorter posts this week. This project is demanding a good portion of my time.

Today’s Picture – I have posted it here before, but Salt Lake City is a very photogenic city. If you can catch a cheap flight I say do it! Here is another incredible sunset from the Utah Capitol.

Camping Cars of France

The Camping Cars Of France

It is that time of year again, the pro cycling season is underway. To celebrate, I thought I would share a common scene you will find if you ever decide to make your way to the Tour de France. The mountain passes are lined with thousands of RVs. Or as my European friends call them, ‘camping cars’. Fans will flock from all around Europe in these camping cars to cheer on their favorite riders. They arrive days in advance to get a good spot. It is a big party that lasts for days, and if you’re a cyclist, they will cheer for you as your ride by. You don’t know how many times a German, Belgian, or French family saved me by offering me food and water while I was out on a long ride. They just love their cyclists….even if you are a slow rider touring the countryside.

Club Silver Dollar

Elko Nevada

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was pretty busy so this will be a quick post. Sorry about that. If you are a regular here you know I have a soft spot for Americana and a great place to explore the forgotten west is Nevada.

A Little Town Called Elko

A Little Town Called Elko

Elko Nevada is a place you might pull off to get some rest if you are on a long road trip, but not a place you would set out to visit. It is an old gambling town, with a few buffets and card games. What I didn’t know about it was that just a mile over the hill (you can’t see them from downtown) are the Ruby Mountains, and they are amazing. I will make sure to post some photos from the Rubies in the future. They actually call Ruby Canyon a mini Yosemite…and they aren’t lying!

Rodeo

My work on the story of the Rodeo Athlete continued tonight. Here is a quick iPhone pic from the chutes. In case you were wondering, he made 8!

Sidewalk To The Sun

If the sun had stopped setting and just hung there, I could have watched it for hours. The warmth of the sun’s rays reminded me I was communing with a star millions of miles away.
