Help People Living With Parkinson’s Disease

If you can’t make it to the USA Pro Challenge this week, pick up my newest book and help people living with Parkinson’s Disease. This week I am donating a dollar from every book sold to the Davis Phinney Foundation which help people living with Parkinson’s Disease, live well.

Today’s Photo

Almond Beach Resort Belize

Today we are looking at the Almond Beach Resort in Belize. It’s a single image stylized using Nik Software Color Efex Pro. I have found that night shots usually only require a single image because the ‘Highlight Recovery’ slider in Lightroom is very powerful. As long as I get details in the shadows, I can usually recover the highlights. Sure, I’m not going to recover the details in all the spectral highlights…but who cares about that?

Denver Cash Register Building

Denver Cash Register Building

If you read the title, you are disqualified from this guessing game. Guess what we call this building here in Denver? Yep, you guessed it…the Cash Register Building. Other than having a melting snow issue, which falls 700 ft to the pedestrians below, it’s cool and definitely the signature of the Denver skyline.

Photographer’s Notes – This is a single image processed in Nik Viveza 2 and Lightroom 4.

Denver Skyline – Part I

Denver Skyline Dawn

As I mentioned last week, I got up reaaallll early to take advantage of shooting the Denver Skyline at dawn from Denver’s tallest building. Opportunities like this don’t come along everyday, you have to jump on them. Thanks to my good buddy…The Man…The Myth…The Armondo…he was able to get me access to an amazing vantage point. We will be spending the week checking out exactly what sunrise is like from a Mile High!

Photographer’s Note – If you are interested, here is the Nik Recipe I used to create the image.

Dinner With Friends

Yellow Brix Carlsbad New Mexico

Hope you had a great weekend! If we ever have dinner together, which actually happens quite a bit since I’ve met a lot great people who visit here, I’ll probably order dinner then we’ll have to go explore the restaurant to shoot some photos. Thankfully my family, friends and regular visitors here are cool creative people that enjoy photography. The Yellow Brix, pictured here, was a very cool discovery in New Mexico. I was pretty sure that in the middle of Haliburton country, we wouldn’t be finding a place like this. Thankfully, I was wrong.

Photographer’s Note – The is a two image blend using Photomatix Exposure Fusion that was further stylized using Nik Software Viveza and Color Efex Pro.
