We didn’t know it until we visited Juneau , but the only way you can reach Juneau is by air or sea. There isn’t a single road you drive to reach Alaska’s capital. Nope, not even the tram pictured here will get you there. It will get you up to a very scenic overlook from the summit of Mt. Roberts, but that’s as far as you go! Oh yeah, ignore the glare from the widow. I was doing my best to stay out of the rain.
Good Morning Vancouver!
Waking up to a sunrise is cool, but waking up to a sunrise in Vancouver is over the top. The city seems as though it is made of clean reflective glass that shines the sun back on the mountains that surround it. You know, if the sunrises are good, the sunsets are going to be just as cool. Later on that night I found they were.
If you are ever headed to Vancouver, I posted a quick travel guide that includes places to go, things to do, and an interactive photo-map. You can find it here.
The Inside Passage
I guess it shouldn’t have surprised me, but the amount of commercial fishing traffic along the inside passage caught me off guard. Maybe its because I live in a landlocked state? Everywhere you looked a boat was either headed to, or returning from, sea. Each with its own personality. I was captivated by the character of these ships as they set sail for the mysteries of the sea. I knew they all had a story to tell, I just wish I had the opportunity to hear them all.
Reflections of Bordeaux
Howdy! I’m fully recharged and excited to be back. I missed everyone. This image from Bordeaux was made while visiting the Tour de France over the summer. After watching the individual time trial earlier in the afternoon where I made this image, pops and I spent the evening exploring the streets of Bordeaux. The evenings surrounding the heart of the city are magical. This evening was no exception. The reflecting pool pictured here is in a constant state of change. It begins by emitting a mist which is followed by an eruption of fountains. As the fountains fade, the pool fills with water. At this point, kids start to run and splash around. Shortly the water recedes and starts all over again.
News: Starting tomorrow the guest blog series, ‘Out Their Front Door’, hits LightAsMagic.com. Let me say that the first installment knocks it out of the park. Make sure to check back tomorrow to see what it is all about.
Orange And A Little Wave
I’m by no means a morning person. I am an ’8am-coffee-robe’ person. I have realized though that by not being a morning person, and still getting up before dawn to make images like this, I must either really love photography, sunrises, or both. Yep, sunrises are a test of what activities are inline with my inner spirit. If I can get up early to do something, I must really love it. How about you? Is it easy for you to get up for a sunrise?
